A versatile and accomplished individual, Kaya grew up in Calgary and spent most of her adolescence competing in sports and playing in the school band. After earning a BSc in Medical Molecular Biochemistry, she went on to complete the Rogues West Ensemble Acting program.

She has since been celebrated for her role in Amazon Freevee’s YA series Beyond Black Beauty - a multi-generational story that follows a young equestrian who bonds with a spirited black horse after a shocking move from Belgium to Baltimore. Kaya is deeply committed to challenging outdated belief systems and hopes to inspire others to alchemize their pain into purpose. She hopes to be a part of the evolution of consciousness and is excited to write and direct her first short documentary as part of the Netflix/Fabienne Colas Foundation's program Being Black in Canada 2024 Cohort.
